Why is it so hard to adopt a dog?

 


Animal shelters have been looking for ways to increase the adoption rates of their dogs. Because of that, they have come up with a model for dog adoption that is much more effective. There are many challenges when it comes to adopting a dog from an animal shelter. One of those challenges is the difficulty in getting people to adopt from these shelters because there aren’t as many available as there are from a breeder or a private seller.


In order to address this issue, animal shelters have been testing out different models for dog adoption including adopting dogs solely online and offline. So when resources are low, adoption difficulty goes up. The first hurdle is finding the right adoption agency that has animals available for adoption. The second challenge is assessing if the animal fits into your home and lifestyle.
