Some dogs are more sensitive than others, however, it is often hard to know why your dog is reacting the way they do. Dogs are social creatures and have a strong affinity for people. The most common cause of dogs howling for no apparent reason is fear. Sometimes they’re just scared of something in their environment, but more often than not they’re scared of what you are doing like when you get near them or if they see something that scares them or makes them think about the past. If your dog is howling at the moon or anything else that moves in the night sky, it could be easy to assume your dog is experiencing separation anxiety. But, simply howling doesn’t mean they’re feeling lonely or sad.
