Why do dogs lick your face when you cry?


 

Some dogs actually use their mouth to put a human in their own state of mind. This can be an indication that dogs know us on a deeper level than we think they do. When humans are facing depression or anxiety, it often leads them to get closer with other humans or dogs. This is because both have an inherent ability to sense when someone is going through the same emotions as the person who’s being licked In dogs, licking is a sign of submission and/or friendship. Its purpose is to say «I love you» and it forms a bond between the dogs and their human owners.
